Blindfolded, complete a course of small obstacles by following a thread by hand (as fast as possible)

Activity details

Duration: 20 minutes

Participants: 6 - 14 people

Cost: $ 3

Age range: 7-25 years old

Equipments

  • at least 40m of string
  • as many blindfolds as players

...

Goal:

1) Become aware of your 5 senses
2) Work on your memory, apprehension of the environment, management of your space
3) Gain self-confidence to know how to surpass yourself in the unknown.
4) Teamwork/good cohesion test

...

What we like:

  • Ability to build teams

Steps

1.Take a string, hang it at a starting point, then unroll it through small simple obstacles (a step, a bush, between branches, under a table, across a small stream, ...) and finish hanging it at an end point. Tighten the thread well.

Beware of sharp branches at eye or head height, place people in risk areas to protect players

2. Put at least a long straight line with no obstacles for the end of the course, fun blind sprinters and the rest of the team always cheers, which builds confidence

3. Varying the obstacles so that you have to bend down, go to the other side of the string, step over, etc...

Participants tend to relax the thread by pulling on it, which makes the game much more complicated.

  1. Create teams of a few players
  2. Take a team, let them visualize the route for the first time, then place them at the starting point
  3. Blindfold all players and give the start signal.
  4. It takes time for the whole team to get from the starting point to the finish point without letting go of the thread.
  5. The first to arrive can remove their blindfolds and guide the rest of the team by talking to them.
  6. The team that finishes the course in the shortest time will be the winner!

CONCRETELY:

Have you faced your fear of bumping into yourself and moved forward despite being blindfolded?

TO GO FURTHER:

Do I dare to venture into the unknown? And persevere despite the obstacles?

  • Doubt: Faced with the unknown, there are two attitudes: either fear dominates, and I move forward very slowly, groping my way along, without taking any risks, for fear of getting knocked about... Or boldness prevails, and I move forward, even if it means running into obstacles and asking for help.
  • Advice from the elders: I'm not alone, I listen to those who can help me to go faster, to avoid falling.

For example, you don't know what direction to take with your studies. You seem to be blinded by a thousand and one questions. Be daring, think things through, ask for help, move forward by drawing on the experience of former students, of your elders!

  • Choice and commitment are inseparable: the virtue of prudence is the practice of these 2 acts: choice and commitment. There are many fears associated with commitment: making a mistake, failing, being alone, losing your freedom, appearing weak, etc. It's important to identify your fears so that you can overcome them.

The wise man's advice: "To know men, you must see them act". Rousseau
