The idea is to get the children to discern what is 'good' and what is 'bad' for them.
Simple option: use pre-constructed cards, cards to copy or print.
Spicy option: have the children invent and draw cards of things that are "good" or "bad" for them
In the first step: ask the children to think individually about what is good/bad for them.
An example can be given: "For me it is good that I eat when I am hungry. Then show the GOOD sign. But it is bad to eat too much candy because it gives you cavities. Show the BAD sign. Everyone can give an example orally.
In a second step, think in teams to draw good and bad things, either as individual drawings or as a group.
Allow time for young people to draw individually or in teams.
You can also spice up the game a bit to make the young people more active.
If there are 6 or more players, each player carries a picture. They have to drop it under the right panel by hopping or doing some other kind of movement.
When he has done his round trip, the next player goes to drop his picture, and so on. The first team to drop off all their pictures wins.
Check with everyone to see if the pictures are in the right place at the end!
And if there are less than 6 players, play against the clock. In less than 2 minutes, they have to put down 10 pictures, going one after the other, hopping around
At the end of the time limit, each child puts his or her drawing in front of the GOOD or BAD sign, and each drawing is commented on. The children can express themselves and give their opinion. For older children, an oral presentation can be organised, either alone or in teams if there are many players.
Discerning right from wrong: is it possible? Throughout our lives, we make choices. We then need to discern right from wrong. From childhood onwards, our parents teach us the keys to this discernment, first of all on basic and concrete notions. Then, little by little, we approach more subtle and abstract notions.
However, we can ask ourselves if good and evil are valid for all and all times or if they are relative?
In fact, each culture transmits a view of good and evil, valuing some more than others. This means that there is a complementarity between cultures.
Some cultures particularly value personal freedom and responsibility, others group and community values... .
But as for each individual, everything in a culture involves both good and bad. For each culture and for each person, it is necessary to learn to discern good and bad. Even if certain goods and certain evils are more or less valued or forgotten according to the culture or according to the time and that there can be an evolution from this point of view, this does not prevent there being an objective good and evil for man. At all times and for each culture, we must learn to discern this objective good and evil for man.
