Étapes

It may be important to prepare young people for the expression of qualities and faults, for example by having a list available, in order to prevent them from writing down too common examples.

See for example the list opposite.

  • Young people are asked to sit in a circle or around a table, each must have a neighbour, a neighbour, on the right and on the left.
  • It's good to explain the symbolism of the egg, the caterpillar, the cocoon, which turns into a butterfly, passing through the cocoon stage: the idea of transformation, of the time required, respecting the stages of the transformation, before becoming a magnificent butterfly and flying away
  1. We give a sheet to each, we ask to draw a butterfly (it's better to show a model in order to standardize styles, sizes)
  2. On this butterfly,
  • in the wing at the top right, everyone notes their qualities,
  • in the wing at the top left, we note its faults, it's personal, each for himself (about 3 for each wing)
  • in the lower right wing, we note the qualities of its right neighbor
  • then in the lower left wing those of its neighbor on the left (idem 3 is not bad)

We create a link with our neighbors:

  • these are the wings at the bottom that are then cut out to share them with your neighbor on the right and left (offer your qualities to your neighbor)
  • we can get them to then exchange verbally on their qualities, their faults, for those who wish, it can also remain very personal

The idea is that everyone leaves with more qualities than defects.

  • Possibility of declining this for students prior to their orientation, their strengths their weaknesses
  • It can also be offered within a family between parents, children
  • We can discuss the notion of slow transformation, which is interesting concerning the qualities and the defects, in connection with the metamorphosis of the butterfly

CONCRETELY :

  • Did you discover anything about yourself during this game?

FOR FURTHER :

  • When is it good to give compliments to those around us?
  • Am I ready to know and accept myself as I am?

#getting to know each other #true look

  • KNOW YOURSELF: Getting to know yourself is a source of joy and self-esteem. But it's not easy. That's why we have the others. They can hear and echo what is being said about ourselves. They can see and express a kindness about us that is hard to perceive with our eyes alone.
  • RECOGNIZE: I learn to know myself, and to become free by accepting who I am. We all have talents that may be different from others, but complementary. I may need the qualities/talents of my neighbor to move forward, to grow. Getting to know others is also a source of joy. It is a source of altruism. Being attentive to the kindness of others helps us to come out of our egocentrism.
  • HUMILITY: Exchanging in a group on the qualities of each allows me to put myself in the right place, in truth, with the expression of my talents, and those that I do not have. It's a good exercise in humility. I also know that I am not perfect, but that like the caterpillar and the butterfly, I will still continue to transform myself as I grow.

Good advice: Always see the qualities of those around me and accept me as I am
