Activity details

Duration: 45 minutes

Participants: 4 - 24 people

Cost: $ 0

Age range: 12-25 years old

Equipments

  • Requires a translator

...

Goal:

Develop the imagination and improvisation skills of young people through a small skit that must be reproduced, with different instructions each time (almost zero preparation time)

...

What we like:

  • Little preparation
  • Possibility of forming teams

Steps

1) Explain the basic plot of the story to be played. For example :

  • You just had a motorcycle accident and you are talking with a friend
  • You left your village where an elephant had entered

2) Each team receives a card on which the instructions are written: they must play together the story told (in step 1) but using only one passion for this, the same for all the players on their team. They have 30 seconds to prepare, then 4 minutes to play in front of the others.

3) They must then act out the story in front of the whole group, each according to their assigned intonation:

  • Normal
  • Sad
  • Very happy
  • Irritated
  • Singing
  • ...

4) They must accentuate the intonations and use their body to express themselves!

CONCRETELY :

  • Which "passions", which feelings, are the easiest to play?
  • What hobbies do you use most often every day?

FOR FURTHER :

  • What are the simplest signs that make it possible to decipher the feeling in my interlocutor? i.e what allows me to say he is angry or she is afraid?

#passions #social networks

Here are the 11 passions (feelings) that are at the origin of all the others:

  • hope/despair
  • love/hate
  • audacity/fear
  • desire/flight
  • pleasure/suffering
  • anger
  • Every day, we express feelings, which are called "passions" in philosophical language.

These passions are important, they are like warning signs that warn us that our mind has reacted to something. He may have reacted to something he saw, heard, imagined, etc. And this provokes a passion of escape, or of desire, or still other passions. This is good. Thus we can adjust our behavior in relation to the signals we receive from the outside.

There is an area in which passions are distorted, it is social networks. Indeed, a "passion" is mainly deciphered by body language. I'm scared, it shows directly on my face. On the other hand, if I write it on my blog, some might not understand my sentence as I thought it, and might not identify fear in it.

For example, "It seems to me that you should pass by tomorrow" can be read with a passion of anger, as well as a passion of desire, and the meaning is completely changed.

  • We must therefore ensure that social networks are not the only place where we express our passions, because the great danger of writing is misunderstandings, misunderstandings, which can lead to real conflicts between people, even friends. You have to take the time to understand what the other wants to tell me, but also take the time before publishing what I want to say myself.

Before posting a message on social media, always ask yourself how your grandmother would have read it?

  • The children showed creativity, and it was a good exercise to be proactive when creating the story as a team. During the performance, I had to insist on the importance of being in front of the public, of speaking loudly, and of using your body as well as possible to express your message. I felt that for the shy ones it was not easy, but it was encouraging to see them participate.
  • Very nice and funny activities. We discover new talents in our young people and some turn out to be good actors. We did 3 "rounds": 1st round with choice of the map and preparation of the sketch pdt 15 min, 2nd round, no choice of the map and preparation of the sketch; 3rd round no choice of card and improvisation! No problems encountered.
  • I integrated improv matches during theater training. They loved it! After having introduced the theatre, the theatrical genres, the rules, I explained the key elements to becoming a good actor (using your body, your voice, your emotions...). then we finished with the improv matches!! I recommend 200%! It's an activity to do and do again!
